CASA for Children’s Open House, on April 17 at the Ross Ragland Cultural Center, “was a great success,” said Sandy Berger, executive director.
“Thank you to the Klamath Union High School Supertet for performing at CASA’s Open House. They did a great job!” she said.
Food and beverages were provided by Wubba’s Barbecue, Mia and Pia’s Pizzeria, Sugar Pine Cafe, Gino’s, MC’s on Main, The Daily Bagel, and 12 Ranch Wines.
Several community members received information about the CASA program, a nonprofit evidence-based program that trains volunteers to advocate for foster children.
“We are very thankful for the volunteers we recruited through this event. With support from our community, both volunteer and financial, our goal is to provide a child advocate for every foster child. Currently, we have a need for about 70 more CASA volunteers.
“CASA volunteers are the voice of the child; a voice for the child’s best interests. Most importantly, each of our volunteers is a constant caring adult in a child’s life until the child is returned home or adopted into a safe and permanent home with a loving family.
“For every $600 received in tax deductible donations, CASA is able to provide a child with full advocacy for one year. We simply must do all we can for these children so they can grow up to be healthy, contributing adults in our community,” Berger said.
For more information about the CASA program, call 885-6017 or go to casa@co.klamath.or.us.
