Robert and Valerie Stone(Hartin) will celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary on Tuesday, March 9th, 2010. They were married on March 9, 1980 at the Baptist Church, in Tulelake, Calif. They have lived their life together in Klamath Falls for the past 30 years. Robert worked at Sturdi-Craft until retiring in 1996 and Valerie worked at the Klamath County Convalescent Center until retiring in 1988. They enjoy spending time with family and friends, and attending functions at the American Legion, where Robert runs Karaoke. They are members of the First Baptist Church, in KLamath Falls. Together, they have raised one daughter (Misty) and eight children (James, Starr, Tadd, Destiny, Robert Jr., Kim, Lori, and Dava), from previous marriages. They have 21 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Robert is a talented woodworker and enjoys his garden in the summertime. Norman Simonson and Evely Guisinger Simonson of Klamath Falls celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family members and friends at Steen Sports Park on Jan. 1, 2010. The celebration was hosted by their daughters and included a special surprise guest, their son, who they hadn’t seen in 10 years. They were married in Reno, Nev., on Jan. 1, 1960. Both were born and raised in Klamath Falls and have lived there all of their lives. Norman is retired from the Klamath County Road Department and Evely is retired from the Klamath County Department of Public Health. Their children are LeAnn Mattson and her husband Marvin and LaDawna Simonson and her partner Tacy Carlin, all of Klamath Falls, and Wes Simonson and his wife Sherri of Fayetteville, N.C. They also have seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
William A. Divine and Laura Mae Divine (Witte) will celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010. They were married at the First Methodist Church in Klamath Falls on Feb. 24, 1955, and have lived in Klamath Falls for more than 55 years. William worked for 36 years at Weyerhaeuser Co. until he retired and Laura Mae was a bookkeeper at Moty and Van Dyke for 27 years until she retired. They enjoy attending Veterans of Foreign Wars functions and traveling to Arizona. Their daughters and the spouses of their daughters are Marlene and Kurt Erickson of Waterford, Calif., and Charlene and Brent Moulton of Klamath Falls, who said they wish to thank their parents for “the loving example they have always shown.” They also have two grandchildren — Andrea Reynolds and her husband, David, and Amanda Erickson and two great-grandchildren Ruby and Ava.
David and Sherry Biddison of Chiloquin recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary. They were married on Feb. 2, 1980, at Klamath Christian Center in Klamath Falls. David was a salesman in the fly-fishing industry until retiring in 1988 following an auto accident with a drunk driver. Sherry worked at Weyerhaeuser Co. prior to retiring when she married David. They lived on Bainbridge Island in Washington before moving to Klamath County in 1990. They volunteer for the SMART (Start Making A Reader Today) program, reading at Chiloquin Elementary School, and are actively involved in Chiloquin Christian Center. Their children are Sgt. Mike Carpenter, who is serving in Iraq, and his wife Kari of Colorado Springs, Colo., Monique Stringer and her husband Mike of Roseburg, Ore., and their five children, and Rhea Bias and her husband of Roseburg and their two children.
Nick and LaRena Camaille will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary during an open house reception hosted by their children from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 6, at their home. Everyone is invited to attend. They were married on March 2, 1960, in Klamath Falls. They moved to Klamath Falls from Louisiana in the early 1960s. Before retiring in 2003, they were the owners of Klamath Falls Logging. They now like to travel, play golf and go camping and enjoy their children, gardening and entertaining friends. Their children and the spouses of their children are Russell and Louise Coats of Dairy, Sherylyn and Jeff Hilyard of Woodland, Calif., Linda and Dave Beckham of Roseburg, Bob and Kelly Anderson of Medford, and Darlean and Gary Peterson and Mickey and Kathy Camaille of Klamath Falls. They also have 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Vernie Arant and Phyllis Arant (Wilcher) will soon celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. They were married on March 2, 1950, and both lived in Klamath County for more than 60 years before moving to Battleground, Wash. Vernie retired from the Southern Pacific Railway in 1988 and Phyllis retired from the Klamath County School District in 1989. Their children are Gregory Arant of Vancouver, Wash., and Glenda Smith of Golden Valley, Ariz. Their son Gordon Arant and his wife, Marlas, and Gregory’s wife, Connie, have passed away. They also have nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Verlin and Sharon Munson of Klamath Falls will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary from 2 to 5 p.m. today in Klamath Assembly of God Church, 235 S. Laguna St. Family members and friends are invited to attend. They were married on Jan. 27, 1960, in Libby, Mont. Both are ordained pastors and have been involved in the ministry since 1974. They have five biological children and two adopted children. They are Russell Munson of St. Joseph, Mo., Bob Munson of Klamath Falls, Rod Munson of Klamath Falls who is currently in Istanbul, Turkey, Marlo Russell, Melody Agier and Lilly Munson of Astoria, Ore., and Savanna Munson, who is still at home. They also have 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Verlin and Sharon are currently foster parents who have opened their home and family to many children over the past 50 years.
Elmer and Jeanette Jacobs of Klamath Falls recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family members and friends in Eagle Point, Ore. The celebration was hosted by their children Lynette Barnes and Keith Jacobs along with their grandchildren Skylar, Nolan, Brandy and Kayla. They were married on Jan. 8, 1960, in Butler, Ala. Shortly after being married, they moved to Oregon and have made it their home for the last 50 years. They said they are enjoying the “golden years” with their family and love taking trips together.
Tony and Jo Halda recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. They were married on Jan. 10, 1970, in Hinsdale, Ill. They have three children, Shannon, Jennie and Tony Jr. and five grandchildren, Hannah, Logan, Katie, Andy and Zoe. Tony and Jo are the owners of Ken’s Body and Paint and Jo is a retired teacher. They enjoy going on “great adventures” and spending as much time as possible at their cabin at Rocky Point.
Gene Culver and Sharon Pavlin Culver will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary by going out and having a quiet dinner in Klamath Falls. They were married on Dec. 27, 1959, in Vancouver, Wash., and have lived in Klamath Falls since 1960. Both are retired, but are still working on their ranch on Reeder Road, which they bought in 1971. Gene is a former mechanical engineer department chairman and associate director of the geo heat center at Oregon Institute of Technology, and is still on call on a part-time basis at the center. For nine years prior to their marriage, Sharon was a trampoline acrobat, starting when she was 12 years old and later performing professionally. Prior to retiring, she worked part time in retail sales. From 1961 to 1969, they were the head residents at the dorm on the OIT campus. In 1965, Carl Pace and Sherri Pulley met on a blind date. Four years later, they began a lifetime together as they were joined in marriage in Sutherlin, Ore. On Oct. 25 of this year, Carl and Sherri celebrated 40 years of marriage with a quiet getaway to the beach in Newport, Ore. Through the years, they have cried and laughed together and supported, encouraged and loved one another. They have been blessed with two sons, Neal and Travis Pace of Klamath Falls, and have welcomed their daughters-in-law, Kristin and Bree Pace, with open arms and hearts. They also have been especially blessed by their three grandchildren, Travis, Emily and Lindsay Pace, each of whom hold a special place in the hearts of their “Grammy” and “Papa.” Sherri has an interest and talent in gardening and decorating and is the owner of the Linkville Kitchen & Candy Shoppe in the shopping plaza next to Walmart. Don and Jean Damrow of Klamath Falls recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. They were married on Nov. 12, 1949, in Tillamook. For their anniversary celebration, they were honored by their extended family at a Nov. 28 dinner party in Klamath Falls. The Damrows are longtime residents of Klamath Falls, where they have lived for 39 years and Don completed a 27-year career with Pacific Power before his retirement. They have four children Jerry Damrow of British Columbia, Canada, Glen Damrow of Klamath Falls, Shirley Penney of Portland and Karen Carey of Klamath Falls, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Lowell and Lucille Hunt are celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary today. They were married during World War II in Burley, Idaho, in 1944. After “Doc” returned from the war, they farmed in Burley for a number of years and Doc became a farm credit specialist with Production Credit Association. In 1970, Doc and “Lue” moved to Spokane, Wash., where he became a vice president with Federal Intermediate Credit Bank (farm credit services) and she became a florist, working at several shops in the Spokane area. After their retirement, they lived in Spokane and Burley as well as Corvallis and Prineville in Oregon. They moved to Klamath Falls in 1998 to be closer to their son. Throughout their 65 rich years together, they have enjoyed fishing and camping with their travel trailer, their close friends, family gatherings, the Oregon Coast, televised Portland Trail Blazers professional basketball games, and being very active in their church. Dick and Paula Cloud celebrated their 40 years of marriage during a special vow renewal ceremony on Oct. 17, 2009, at New Horizon Christian Fellowship with Pastor Mike Voight officiating. Following the ceremony, they hosted a barbecue luncheon for many family members and friends. Dick and Paula were married on Oct. 17, 1969, in Scio, Ore., and moved to Klamath Falls in 1996. Dick retired in 2002 as principal of Henley Elementary School and also spent many years as a teacher, coach and administrator with the Eagle Point and Burns school districts. Paula retired in 2007 from Oregon Institute of Technology, where she served as executive secretary to President Martha Anne Dow. She also worked for several years in the banking industry. They have two children Donny (Leta) Cloud and Nikki (Jason) Blodgett and four grandchildren Noah and Natalie Cloud and Wyatt and Evie Blodgett. They also enjoyed a nine-day holiday in Maui, Hawaii, the week following the ceremony.
James and Lora Lake of Klamath Falls celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on Aug. 18, 2009. Lora Evans met Jim Lake in 1983 when they were set up on a blind date by friends. They married on Aug. 18, 1984, at the home of Jim’s parents in Lake City, Calif. Shortly after marrying, they moved to Klamath Falls and in 1987 had their only child Melissa. In 2006, Jim and Lora completed their dream home they had been working on for four years. Jim has worked at Oregon Institute of Technology for 21 years and Lora has worked at The Home Depot for six years. To celebrate their anniversary, they made a trip in July to Minnesota to visit Lora’s family. On the trip, they saw Old Faithful, Custer’s Battlefield, Mount Rushmore, the Laura Ingalls Wilder Homestead, and the Badlands.

They married on August 18, 1984, at Jim’s parent’s home in Lake City, California. Shortly after marrying, they moved to Klamath Falls and in 1987 had their only child, Melissa. In 2006, Jim and Lora completed their dream home that they had been working on for four years. Jim has worked at OIT for twenty one years. Lora has worked at The Home Depot for six years. To celebrate their anniversary, they made a trip in July to Minnesota to visit Lora’s family. On that trip, they saw Old Faithful, Custer’s Battlefield, Mount Rushmore, Laura Ingalls Wilder Homestead, and the Badlands.
Billy and Karen Ray celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on June 6, 2009. Among many friends and family members, there was a surprise anniversary celebration playing in a golf tournament at Mount Adams Golf Course in Toppenish, Wash. Billy and Karen have lived in Klamath, Modoc and Yahooskin country all of their lives. They also celebrated their anniversary with their four children Kim, Willy, Jayson and Ferlin and seven of their nine grandchildren. Billy and Karen are avid golfers and travel to many golf tournaments. They have many friends and will continue to have lots of fun and be one of the happiest couples in Klamath, Modoc and Yahooskin country.
Walt Conrady and June Mayfield Conrady will celebrate their 42nd wedding anniversary during a private party at their home hosted by Sandra Evans and Mary Kennedy. Walt, who is now retired, was a detective with the Klamath Falls Police Department and also employed by Jeld-Wen. June continues to be employed in food and beverages. They were married in Reno, Nev. In 1993, they moved from Klamath Falls to Reno and back to Klamath Falls in 2008. They have five children, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Lyle Joe Sheldon and Dianne Sheldon (O’Banion) celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary during a surprise party hosted by their five children Peggy, Joe, Bob, Tim and Cindy on Sept. 12, 2009, at Running Y Ranch Resort. They were married on Sept. 12, 1959, at the Chapel of the Bells in Manhattan Beach, Calif. Dianne retired in 2005 and Lyle retired in 2008 as owners of Sheldon’s Machine Shop. Before moving to Klamath Falls, they lived in Hawthorne, Calif., Mission Viejo, Calif., and Beatty, Ore. They currently are members of the Medford and Klamath Falls Corvette Club. Their children and the spouses of their children are Peggy Donovan (Ned Cotton) of Medford, Joe Sheldon (Rhonda Sheldon) of Bend, Bob Sheldon (Darlene Sheldon) and Tim Sheldon (Stacy Sheldon) of Klamath Falls, and Cindy Guerra (Vince Guerra) of Grants Pass. They also have 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Vernon Earl Collins and Jewell Marie Huggins Collins have celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. Both have been retired since 1980. They moved 15 years ago to Klamath Falls from Sacramento, Calif. Their sons are Jack and Bill Collins of California and Don Collins of Washington. They also have six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
John and June Selby of Klamath Falls will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary on Wednesday, Sept. 16, during a dinner with their family. They met in Brisbane, Australia, during World War II. He was a G.I. in the U.S. Army when they met in a swimming pool. He came home to Klamath Falls and she followed in 1946. They have two sons Jay and Randel, one daughter Tracie Lafley and two grandsons.
Joan (George) and Paul Bentley will celebrate 35 years of marriage on Sept. 15. They were married in Reno, Nev., at Park Chapel, the oldest chapel in Reno. Joan retired in 1998 after 25 years of civil service in communications at Kingsley Field. Paul was owner of Paul’s Barber Shop and retired in 1998 after 45 years of barbering in Klamath Falls. On July 2, Joan and Paul were treated to their first cruise to Alaska for Joan’s 80th birthday, a gift from their daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn and Robert Edgar of Klamath Falls, along with their grandson, Adam Drew and his fiancée, Gina Messner of Medford. A birthday celebration was hosted by Joan’s daughter, Cathy, and husband, Don McDonald of Soldotna, Alaska; grandson, Derek Clark of Kenai, Alaska; granddaughter, Brandy Smith; and great-grandson, Jonas Hunter of Homer, Alaska. A wonderful time was had by all.
Helen and Holbert Kasper will celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary with an open house at their home at 1921 Fargo St. off Shasta Way from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009. They met in Helen’s hometown of Stevensville, Md., on Jan. 5, 1974. The couple moved to Klamath Falls, Ore., where Holbert was born and raised, in August 1974. Helen and Holbert were married on Aug. 30, 1974, at the home of Holbert’s parents in a beautiful outdoor ceremony. They continue to make Klamath Falls their home, where they have enjoyed raising three children, Chris, Melissa, and George. Each of their children has a family and they all reside in Klamath Falls. Earl and Donna Kessler are celebrating 50 years of marriage. They were married on Aug. 22, 1959, in Klamath Falls. The family of Earl and Donna will host an open house on Aug. 22, 2009, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Living Faith Fellowship Church, 4549 Homedale Road. No gifts, please.
Gary and MarLena Gregory of Klamath Falls celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at Reames Golf & Country Club on Aug. 2, 2009, with family and friends. The celebration was hosted by their children. They were married on July 31, 1959, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. As newlyweds, they lived in Spokane, Wash., moving to Klamath Falls in 1963. Gary was employed by Maury’s Foreign Cars, the first Volkswagen dealership in Klamath Falls, as a mechanic. In 1967, Gary opened his own business, Gary’s Foreign Car Repair on East Main Street. In 1972, they bought property on Washburn Way and built a new building for the Volkswagen repair business and later added a parts department. MarLena worked at the business for seven years at which time they leased the building out in 1980. Gary later re-opened and operated Gary’s Foreign Car Repair on the same location until they sold the property in 1998 and Gary retired.
