During the course with Marine Corps Combat Service Support Schools Training Command, Camp Lejeune, N.C., she learned to use supply publications and catalogs, general accounting, and the basics of naval correspondence.
Long is a 2009 graduate of Klamath Union High School and joined the Marine Corps in July 2009.

Army Reserve Spec. Joseph Scott has been mobilized and activated at Fort Dix, N.J., in preparation for deployment to serve in support of either Operations Iraqi Freedom or Enduring Freedom.
He is a member of the 382nd Combat Sustainment Support Battalion based in Seattle.
The soldiers are normally activated from Army Reserve or Army National Guard units from throughout the U.S. They go through a series of in-processing procedures and training classes that prepare them for skills and situations they may face in their deployed environment.
Scott, a rifleman, has four years of military service.

Pfc. David Neu Jr., 19, Klamath Falls, graduated from U.S. Marine Corps boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, Calif., on Jan. 29, 2010.
He completed 13 weeks of intensive basic training as one of 69 recruits in Training Platoon 2107.

All veterans who have served honorably for our nation, are entitled to receive military honors at their interment or memorial service. The family of the deceased veteran must inform the funeral director of their wish to have military honors. It is the responsibility of the funeral director to inform the family of all of the entitlements available, i.e. burial flags, headstones and presentation of military honors, to include all available resources for providing each.
One such resource for providing military honors is the voluntary members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Pelican Post 1383 and Crater Lake Detachment of the Marine Corps League’s Color Guard. This service is at no cost to the family. However, donations are accepted to offset the cost of transportation and uniforms.
Please remember, our veterans have earned the rights to military honors and all family members should question their funeral director for this information.

Army Pvt. Joseph Grohs graduated from One Station Unit Training at the U.S. Army Infantry School, Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.
The training consisted of basic military training and advanced individual training.
During basic military training, Grohs received instruction in drill and ceremonies, military customs and courtesies, map reading, tactics, basic rifle marksmanship, physical fitness, field training, and first aid skills. He also developed combat skills and handled various weapons available to the infantry soldier.
During advanced individual training, he received instruction to serve as an infantryman/mortarman using light and heavy anti-armor weapons, indirect-fire support, and mechanized operations while assigned to a rifle or mortar squad. Master-at-Arms Second Class Petty Officer Troy Gollihar has re-enlisted in the U.S. Navy for three years while underway aboard the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69).
He graduated from Lakeview High School in Lakeview in 2003.
Since his induction in the Navy on July 23, 2003, he has served onboard the USS Sacramento (AOE-1) at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island Security Detachment and at the Naval Support Activity Security Detachment in Bahrain and Jebel Ali located in the country of Dubai in the Middle East.
Currently, he is stationed at NAS Whidbey Island with Electronic Attack Squadron 140, where he is the command master at arms and the First Lieutenant Division leading petty officer. This squadron is attached to Carrier Air Wing Seven aboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69).

During his nine weeks there, he underwent extensive training in rifle marksmanship, physical fitness and basic soldier skills. He was taught the Army’s seven core values and learned the principles and spirit that make soldiers proud to wear the uniform of this country.
He remains at Fort Knox for advanced individual training as an M1A1 Mechanic. He is being trained in the maintenance of Abrams and Bradley systems. As a warrior mechanic, he will provide support for today’s mechanized forces.
